Carbon Reduction Policy

We are committed to reducing our environmental impact and advancing sustainable practices across all our land surveying operations.

1. Purpose and scope

We’re committed to reducing greenhouse gas emissions from its UK operations and achieving Net Zero by 2050. This policy applies to all employees and company activities.

We partner with contractors and suppliers who support this implementation in their operations when working with us and wehre relevant to their work.

2. Our commitments and targets

We are compliant with applicable UK environmental legislation and any energy and carbon reporting obligations required of our company. Our Net Zero commitment supports the UK target under the Climate Change Act 2008.

Against the 2025 baseline of 91 tonnes of carbon dioxide equivalent (tCO2e), comprising of:

  • Scope 1. 38
  • Scope 2. 13
  • Scope 3. 40 tCO2e

We aim to reduce total emissions by 15% by the end of 2026 and 50% by 2030, and achieve Net Zero by 2050.

3. Carbon reduction measures

To reach our targets, we will:

  • Improve building energy efficiency with energy audits and insulation so we can transition to 100% renewable electricity supplies by the end of 2026
  • Monitor fleet fuel use and efficiency, and evaluate replacement of petrol and diesel vehicles with electric models. Overall, we’ll reduce travel through public transport, car sharing and remote working
  • Encourage suppliers to reduce emissions, prioritise local sourcing, minimise waste and single-use plastics, and increase reuse and recycling
  • Provide sustainability training and encourage staff to participate in carbon reduction activities

4. Responsibilities and monitoring

Our company directors are responsible for implementation, resources, and progress of our Carbon Reduction Policy. Employees will be following relevant procedures and supporting efficient use of energy, transport, and materials.

We will review Scope 1, 2, and relevant Scope 3 emissions annually using the GHG Protocol and appropriate UK Government conversion factors, retain supporting records and report progress against our targets. Forecasts will be clearly distinguished from actual emissions.

5. Review and approval

The directors will review this policy annually, or sooner following significant changes in legislation or operations. Where required for a public contract, we will maintain and publish a separate Carbon Reduction Plan meeting the applicable procurement requirements.
